Central PA Honor Flight

Hello Central PA!

September 7, 2024 10:07 / Eric

HI Central PA.  I hope this last labor day was a time to meet with those you love, work with some people you know or just take a minute to relax.

We are still  on our mission to get volunteers, Veterans, & Guardians for our inaugural trip.  More on that in a future post.

We are planning a good day in Washington DC filled with some great views of  the monuments and memorial erected in the Veterans honor.

Sites include:

  • Arlington National Cemetery
  • The Marine Corps Memorial ( Iwo Jima)
  • The Air Force Memorial
  • World War II Memorial
  • Korean War Memorial
  • Vietnam Wall
  • The US Navy memorial

Potential inclusion:

  • the US Amy Museum
  • Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Smithsonian museum

I met with Chicago’s Honor Flight Mission 115.  They brought 112 Veterans from Chicago.

They had a big group incoming but an even bigger group 300-400 meeting the veterans as they came off the Jetway.

There was also another group meeting these veterans at WWII.

I will update my mission log with these pictures.

I had the great pleasure of being a guardian for mission 36.  Again with the awesome people from AHHF ( Appalachian Highlands Honor Flight Mission 8)

This time I was a guardian for Steve Crosswait, a Vietnam Vet from Johnson City TN.  Mr. Crosswait and I again met in Bedford VA at the National D-Day Memorial. We end our 2.5 day trek at Freedom farm in Bedford VA. Safe journeys my friend!
